Planning policy webpage:
The Sunderland Unitary Development Plan (UDP) is the current adopted development plan for the city and sets the planning policy basis for assessing all planning applications and development proposals. To retain development plan policy coverage, many of the UDP's policies were nevertheless automatically 'saved' for three years upon commencement of the Government's Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act (2004), with a further 'direction' from the Secretary of State enabling them to continue to be 'saved' beyond September 2007.
