Current policy

http://www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/9065/Local-Development-FrameworkThe South Tyneside Local Development Framework (LDF) is the current Local Plan and guides the future development and use of land in the borough over the next 10-15 years.  It includes a portfolio of statutory Development Plan Documents (DPD).  Along with national policy and guidance, the LDF policies set the basis for assessing all planning applications and development proposals. They are supported by non-statutory advisory guidance in a series of Supplementary Planning Documents .

Future policy

A new Local Plan is being prepared over the next few years and it will comprise of:

Local Plan Development Plan Document

International Advanced Manufacturing Park Area Action Plan

The Strategic Land Review (SLR)

http://www.southtyneside.gov.uk/article/16719/Strategic-Land-Review

This was consulted upon in the summer of 2016 and CPRE Durham made a submission.

The SLR assessed 295 sites either already known to the council or proposed by various people such as landowners and developers, for their suitability for development using a variety of criteria.  As a result of this study sites are assessed as being either “suitable for development” (green sites), “potentially suitable for development” (amber sites), or “not suitable for development” (red sites).  The SLR does not allocate sites for development.  Allocation occurs when the relevant Local Plan document is compiled which takes the assessment from the SLR and the results of the SLR consultation into account.  This is then goes out for consultation.

In addition there was a consultation on the International Advanced Manufacturing Park Area Action Plan (IAMP AAP) in the summer of 2016 to which CPRE North East submitted comment.
